Change Models
In healthcare, change remains an integral element that allows for quality improvement initiatives, resulting in delivery of high-quality care that lead to optimal health outcomes. However, to successfully implement change in a healthcare setting, one needs to develop an effective change management model (Annamaraju et al., 2022). Some common change models applicable in healthcare include Lewin’s three-step and Kotter's 8-Step change Models. One similarity between the two change models is that both recommend a structured framework involving sequences to effectively manage change. They also emphasize the need for effective communication in ensuring successful change implementation. Effective communication during the change implementation process is useful in keeping the relevant stakeholders sufficiently informed about the change and addressing any concerns that may arise, minimizing resistance and encouraging successful change implementation.
